John Charter’s obsession began with surreal and impressionist paintings then blossomed into motion pictures. Themes like duality, loneliness, alternate realities, unrequited love, and karma are at the core of his work. Through music videos he unites his passion for music, storytelling, and art.

Originally from Colusa in Northern California, John grew up working on his family’s rice and almond farm. The sweeping landscapes and eccentric rural characters continue to inspire his storytelling. He went on to study film at CSU, Monterey Bay and graduated Summa Cum Laude.

John is currently directing music videos and is represented by Lark Creative. He has also produced a number of Red Bull commercials and branded content videos. He loves to travel and his shoots have led him throughout Europe and the US. He is based in Hollywood, CA.
